A home recording studio owner who is blind asks whether anyone else in the same position has managed to overcome the difficulties of digital audio workstation operation.

This song had drums, bass, and acoustic guitar tracked in a studio. All vocals, electric guitars, percussion, and cello were tracked with an MBox. Mics used for electric guitars were the SM57, AKG C3000, and RE-20. For the cello, I used an SM81 up close and an AKG C3000 a few feet back. Percussion was tracked with the C3000. Vocals used the RODE NT2000....

On this track, drums, bass, and a few guitar tracks were cut in a studio, with everything else done on an MBox....

"If a piece of equipment changes the shape of this sine wave, or any signal, then distortion is created. Distortion generates additional frequencies that were not present in the original signal. Sometimes distortion can add 'warmth' often it is distinctly unpleasant..."

The entire drum track was created in FL Studio 7. FL Studio is fairly straightforward and the presets (EQ, comnpression, etc) are awesome....

This process started in my small home studio; I recorded this song as a simple message to create awareness that girls must and should be respected....

This song came about when I heard an announcer on the Weather Channel giving his hurricane prediction for the coming year. He said he expected seventeen storms to come down on us, and I grabbed my lyrics pad....

Microphones are the most inconsistent products in the whole of audio (apart from loudspeakers that is!). But why do they sound different? Isn't there such a thing as the perfect mic?

My name is Ed Cobb and I play Drums in Low 90. I also recorded this song in my newly built home studio. I have been using Sony Vegas for about 6 -7 years and currently own Vegas 8.0 Pro. I am using an HP with an AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processing 3800 with 4 gigs of ram of which 3.43 are seen and or used by the computer. Here is a basic lay out. I have 2 rooms set up one is the live room and one is the control room. I have installed acoustic sound foam in the control room covering about 50% of the room. It has made a huge difference in the listening environment, and made mixing a lot easier. I have yet to touch the live room but it is coming....

Doppler phasing is an effect that cannot be achieved by any effects unit, stomp box or plug-in. And all you need is the equipment you probably already have. Dare to sound different...

I released my first debut album in 2006, The Art of Living, it has a funky groove, creating sweet sensations to the listening ear.” The CD has its own flavor, with a very soulful touch. It is a grooved filled production that is reminiscent of the kind of music Grover Washington Jr. made....

"Yes, at last we can be sure that vinyl is dead. Like Rasputin, it took a while to give up the ghost. But finally it is a full six feet under. Here is the proof... "

This song was originally my final project for the engineering course I was taking at Musicians' Institute in Hollywood. It earned me

If you always find yourself using EQ to boost frequencies and never cut, then you are letting one of the most powerful facilities on your mixing console or DAW go to waste...

This song was another track where basics were cut in a studio, and overdubs done on an MBox. For the lo-fi guitar sound of the intro, we plugged into a tiny, broken-looking guitar amp in the studio, and turned the volume up all the way. It sounded terrible, just as we hoped....

The chord progression on this song was with me for a while, and came together shortly after the death of my friend's mother. She was on my mind all during the recording, and I used her personal motto as the title, in dedication....

This process started in my small home studio; I recorded this song “Blame game” using a loop....

Quiero contarles que actualmente me encuentro promoviendo *My Home Studio* y deseo ponerlo a tus ordenes ya sea para tus producciones musicales, demos, comerciales, viñetas de perifoneo y todo lo que tiene que ver con audio...

Creativity is one of those things which makes humans so special. But could there ever be a day when computers are composers, theoretical physicists, or artists? There are already a number of projects in artificial intelligence that try to recreate creativity in computers......

"It is probably the most common ambition in music. But many people want to become a record producer without really understanding what it means. Here's the primer..."

"Electronic drum sets may not have all the subtlety of acoustic drums, but they have other advantages. Electronic drums are surprisingly popular..."

"Sure" is the first great song we had written as a couple way back 2004. We love the plain acoustic version, and I attempted to record the complete band version after several request from the artist fans...

Electric platform is produced by Ex-malik the artist himself. by the time i realized i needed a smash hit for 2008 i was on a small event before litsening to Linkin park's smash hit [Numb]2004 classic that got me energetic that day & i felt like am in a big cathedral with a strong keyboard sound theme cause linkin park is one of my favourite Rock Rap bands on Earth so i had an idea myself & that morning i went straight to the studio without stopping anywhere to construct a similar beat/instrumental to Numb...

Using the Audio Technica AT3035 Microphone through a Studio Vlave pre-amp, then the Behringer Tube Composer and the Aphex big bottom and aural exciter (pause for breath) we tracked down the acoustic guitar in 3 parts for the intro....

This track is out of a recent album that we are currently recording. Everything isn't final of course. Also, keep in mind we are American of Cuban descent, so the vocals naturally don't have an English accent. This song and it's recording were intentionally done to sound like if it were pulled out of Sgt. Peppers. The beginning of the song was recorded extended so that it could be blended with the previous track....
